Your roof and your panels, one owner
Affordable Roofing Systems and GoSimpleSolar are part of the same ownership group. When your roof and your array need to work together, you get one plan, one schedule and one proposal.

How a reroof works with solar on it
Written into your proposal as its own line, so you see the whole cost before you sign.
Document and shut down
We photograph the array, the wiring runs and every mount before anything is touched, and shut the system down safely.
Remove and store on site
Panels and racking come off before tear-off and are stored on your property.
New roof, new flashing at every mount
The full five-part roof goes on, and every mount point gets new flashing as part of the roof.
Reinstall and turn back on
The array goes back up and the system is brought back online.
Reroof first, if the roof won't outlast the panels
Panels stay up for decades. If your roof has less life left than that, replacing it first saves you paying to take the array off and put it back later. We'll tell you honestly which side of that line your roof is on.
GoSimpleSolar designs the system
For new panels or a battery, GoSimpleSolar handles design, permitting and install. Because it's the same ownership, the roof and the array are planned together from the start.
Who covers the mounts
The flashing at every mount is part of the roof we install, so it's covered by our 10-year workmanship warranty. Your proposal says in writing what we own and what stays with the panel manufacturer.
Solar questions homeowners ask us
Do I need to call my solar installer before a reroof?
No. We handle removal and reinstall ourselves as part of the roof project. If your system has a monitoring or warranty contact, send it to us and we will keep them in the loop.
How long are the panels off the roof?
Only as long as the roof takes. They come off before tear-off and go back up once the new roof and the flashing at every mount are in.
Is removal and reinstall in the roof price?
It is its own line in your proposal, at $300 per panel, so you can see it before you sign and compare it against any other bid. About one in three roofs we replace has solar on it.
Should I replace my roof before adding solar?
If the roof has less life left than the panels, usually yes. It saves paying to remove and reinstall the array later. If your roof has years left, we will tell you.
Who do I call if a mount leaks?
Us. The flashing at every mount is part of the roof we installed and is covered by our 10-year workmanship warranty.
“We were very happy with Van and his team since they provided a true one-stop shop, i.e., removing existing solar panels and replacing them on the new roof, replacing rotten wood, and doing paint touch-up.”
