Pick the Right Shingles
for Your Home

When it comes to re-roofing your home, the options can be overwhelming. After 34 years in the industry, we have seen every trend come and go. We believe in telling you the good, the bad, and the ugly about roofing materials so you can make the right investment. Here is our deep dive into the brands we recommend, the aesthetic tiers available, and the products we advise you to avoid.

Industry Secrets

The Truth About Shingles & Warranties

While all of the premium shingles we install carry a limited lifetime warranty, it is crucial to read the fine print. Coverage for "normal wear" is typically a 10-year prorated warranty. You will often hear contractors selling a "50-year roof" to close a deal. To achieve those warranties, a roofer must hold specific certifications—which we have—and install a complete system. We build roofs that are just as durable as those sold by contractors pitching a "50-year" lifespan, but we refuse to mislead you. Practically speaking, even the best high-quality roof has a life expectancy of 20 to 25 years. We provide top-tier durability without the empty promises.

Explore Your Shingle Options

01

Standard Laminated (The Best Value)

The CertainTeed Landmark is the standard laminated shingle we install on 90% of homes. It is the absolute "best bang for your buck," offering the exact same longevity (20-25 years) as the more expensive luxury lines. The Owens Corning Duration is a similar, high-quality line that costs about the same and features their patented SureNail Technology for incredible wind resistance.

02

Upgraded / Thicker Profile

For homeowners seeking superior curb appeal, the CertainTeed Landmark Pro and Owens Corning Duration Premium offer a distinct upgrade. These feature a thicker, more dimensional profile than standard laminates, providing a richer, textured look that defines your home's character. (Note: While they look fantastic, the durability and warranty are exactly the same as the standard lines).

03

Luxurious Rustic Aesthetic

For the charm of cedar with the durability of modern performance, the CertainTeed Presidential line is the industry standard. It features a sculpted tab design with a distinct "jagged" pattern that replicates traditional wood shakes without the maintenance concerns of real timber.

04

The Ultimate "Shake" Look (Triple Layer)

If you want the ultimate in depth and dimension, the CertainTeed Presidential TL (Triple Layer) and Owens Corning Duration MAX take the wood-shake aesthetic to the extreme. These heavy-duty shingles create deep, dramatic shadow lines for a powerful, estate-grade presence. Keep in mind: you are choosing these strictly for their beautiful aesthetics, not for extra longevity.

05

Title 24 "Cool Roof" Shingles

You may see manufacturers advertising "Cool Roof" or Title 24 compliant shingle colors. We can absolutely install these if you'd like them, but we want you to know our recommended path to Title 24 compliance is proper ventilation and R38 insulation — which actually reduces your attic temperature and energy costs. A cool roof shingle on a hot day will still burn your hand just like a standard shingle. We'd rather solve the problem at the source.

Our Experience

We Install What We Trust

After 34 years and thousands of roofs, we've learned which product lines hold up and which ones don't. We've seen other brands fail on multiple jobs — shingles deteriorating well before their expected lifespan. That's why we focus on CertainTeed and Owens Corning. These are the brands that have consistently performed for our customers over decades, and we stand behind every roof we build with them.
