About

Family owned. Roofing the Bay Area since 1989.

Affordable Roofing Systems is a family-owned business built on decades of roofing experience, quality craftsmanship and honest work.

Together, with foreman Ivan Martinez, our crew has worked together for six years. When you read our recent reviews, you’re reading about the same team that will be working on your home. Their experience, care and hard work are the foundation of this business.

We’re building on that foundation with the customer experience you deserve: clear information, open communication and people who take responsibility for the work.

Our work

Roofs and solar on streets like yours.

The pins are jobs we've finished: roofs by Affordable Roofing Systems and solar by GoSimpleSolar, our sister company under the same ownership. Pick your city to see what went on, and when.

Pins with two colors mark an address where we’ve done more than one kind of work.

Roof replacements and repairs are Affordable Roofing Systems jobs. Solar pins are GoSimpleSolar installs. The two companies are one ownership group for the roof and the panels on it.

Credentials

Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and CertainTeed Master Craftsman. CSLB #1145218, C-39 roofing, licensed, bonded and insured.

Where the old roof goes

Tear-off goes to certified green transfer stations and becomes recycled asphalt for local roads. A typical 2.5 to 3.5 ton tear-off helps pave about 200 feet of two-lane road.

How we work

One crew, one owner

You can reach the owner

Van is involved in every project, and the foreman on your roof works for us. Questions get answered by the person who can make the call.

The same crew all week

The people who tear off your roof are the people who dry it in, install it, and magnet-sweep your driveway on the last evening. Nobody new shows up halfway through with a different idea of the scope.

We write the rates down first

Dry rot, a hidden second roof and spaced boards each have a rate printed in your proposal before you sign, so a surprise on the deck comes with a photo and a printed number.

Satellite measurement, same people

Every facet measured before we quote. The tools changed; who answers the phone did not.

SOLAR

Panels handled in house

We remove and reinstall arrays during a reroof, and our solar company GoSimpleSolar handles new panels and batteries.

What we won't do

A few things you won't hear from us

  • A price that expires to rush you — your proposal is written so you can take the time you need.
  • Vents or metal as an upsell — they’re in the base bid because the roof needs them.
  • A crew you haven't read about — the people behind our Yelp reviews do the work on your house.
  • A markup on what we find — dry rot and hidden layers are billed at the rate printed in your proposal, with lumber at cost.
  • A new roof you don’t need — if a repair or waiting is the right call, that’s what we’ll recommend.
“…without any attempts to up-sell me on things that weren't needed or necessary.”

“[Affordable Roofing Systems] even advised that the shingles on an awning still had life in them and didn't need to be done if we wanted to save money.”

Community impact

Nearly nine out of ten pounds stay out of the dump

Tear-off from your house goes to certified green transfer stations, where asphalt shingles are sorted and processed into recycled asphalt for local roads, parking lots and pothole patches.

  • Paving local roads — a typical tear-off of 2.5 to 3.5 tons yields enough recycled asphalt binder to help pave roughly 200 feet of a standard two-lane road.
  • Saving raw petroleum — recycling a single roof saves barrels of raw crude oil and reduces new aggregate mining.
  • Tracked by weight ticket — every permit and weight ticket is recorded, which is where the 88% figure for this year comes from.

What you can count on from us

You should be able to research a roofer before you ever let one on your property. My wife and I own two construction businesses, and we both come from marketing, where most of the work was making information easy for people to find. That’s why our prices, products and process are on this site, and why you can read all of it before you call.

A roof is a big decision, and you deserve to work with people who know it inside and out. Kelly and our crew bring decades of hands-on roofing experience. I’m currently in a master’s program in construction, so the decisions about your roof are backed by how buildings are supposed to work.

You also deserve straight answers. If your roof still has years left, we’ll tell you. When work is needed, we’ll show you why, explain your options and put the price in writing before anything starts. If something changes, you’ll hear it from us first.

Experience, education and honesty only matter if you can see them. My job is to make sure you can, from the first estimate to the final cleanup.
