Getting ready for your new roof
What happens each day, what to move before we arrive, and who to reach while we work. Tell us what you’re protective of, and it goes into the crew’s instructions.

A short list for you
Clear the driveway
Our trailers need the space. Move cars the night before, and tell us about low branches or power lines.
Cover the attic
Tear-off shakes dust loose. Cover anything stored up there, or move it.
Take down wall hangings
Pictures and shelves on top-floor walls can shift from the vibration.
Plan for pets and noise
It’s loud during tear-off. Pets, naps and work calls may want another room or another place.
Tell us what to protect
Fresh paint, landscaping, pavers, a boat. We tarp, and we note it for the foreman.
Solar and other trades
If panels are coming off or another trade is involved, tell us before the job starts.
What happens each day
On a typical Bay Area house, our crew replaces the whole roof in three to four days.
Tear-off
The old roof comes off.
Dry rot and underlayment
Any dry rot gets repaired, then the waterproof layer goes down.
The build
Shingles go on, along with the attic vents, the metal at walls and chimneys, and any solar mounts.
Finish and final cleanup
Magnet sweep of the property, city inspection, final invoice with the permit at cost, and your warranty papers.
A second old roof, a lot of dry rot, solar panels, a city deck inspection or weather can add time. We watch the forecast and won’t open a roof into rain.
If we find something under the old roof
If the deck has dry rot or there’s a hidden layer, we photograph what we find and share the photos with you, and it’s billed at the rate printed in your proposal. Nothing goes past $3,500 without another signature from you.
People who can answer
Call the office, and your question reaches Van or the foreman on your roof. A question on day two gets an answer from someone who can make the call.
Questions before we start
How do I get on the schedule?
Sign the proposal and pay $1,000 to get on the schedule.
How long does a roof replacement take?
On a typical Bay Area house, three to four days: tear-off, then dry rot and underlayment, then the build, then the finish and final cleanup. A second old roof, a lot of dry rot, solar panels, a city deck inspection or weather can stretch it, and we say so when we schedule the job.
What should I do before the crew arrives?
Clear the driveway: our trailers need the space. Hammering shakes the house, so take down framed pictures and mirrors on top-floor walls. Tell us what you’re protective of, like plants or pavers, and it goes into the crew’s instructions for the job.
Who do I contact during the project?
Call us Monday to Saturday at (925) 381-9162, or text. Our foreman is Ivan Martinez, and Van is involved in every project.
How are debris and cleanup handled?
The crew lays tarps over landscaping and along the house, and old roofing goes straight into the dumpster. Every day, hard surfaces get swept and magnetic rollers go over the lawn, driveway and planters. On the last day the dumpster is hauled away, gutters are cleaned out, and we walk around the house with you. For our jobs in 2026, 88% of materials have been recycled.
What about permits and inspections?
We pull and schedule the permit and bill it at exactly what the city charges, never marked up. Some cities inspect the bare deck, and we work around their schedule. The city’s final inspection comes before your warranty paperwork. Our city pages list local permit costs and rules.
